Prospective interns should


  • have a desire to make a career of teaching, and a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

  • be 21 years or older.

  • be currently studying a Bachelor of Education degree (Senior & FET), or another degree with the aim of studying a PGCE.

  • be able and willing to offer other co-curricular skills (coaching school sports or involvement in cultural activities and outdoor education).

  • align with the Christian values and ethos of the school.

  • have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • have a clear criminal clearance certificate.


As Michaelhouse is an all-boys full boarding school and interns are required to live in the boarding houses, preference will be given to male candidates


What will your commitment be?


  • We expect you to commit to at least a one (1) year fixed term contract. Any extensions would be conditional on your performance.

  • We expect you to take charge of your career and personal development and to work with your mentor and your department.

  • We expect you to be involved in all aspects of school life and help and learn whenever an opportunity presents itself.

  • We require you to be registered for and studying a relevant teaching qualification either a B.Ed (Senior & FET) or a PGCE.

  • We expect you to perform well academically and pass your studies.
