Job Purpose
The Boarding Assistant is responsible for supporting the welfare, supervision, and development of learners residing in the boarding establishment.
The role ensures a safe, disciplined, and nurturing environment that promotes learners’ academic success and personal growth.
This position comprises weekday morning and afternoon duties, together with rostered weekend responsibilities.
In lieu of remuneration, residential accommodation and meals will be provided. Employment at The Wykeham Collegiate is not a requirement; the role may be well suited to an individual who is studying or who works standard daytime hours or remotely.
Responsibilities would include
• Providing high-quality pastoral care and supervision for Senior School boarders.
• Assisting with daily routines, including afternoon prep, mealtimes, activities, bedtime, and morning wake-up.
• Providing support and mentorship to learners.
• Supporting and coordination of age-appropriate activities and weekend programmes.
• Weekend chaperon duties.
• Modeling and reinforcing positive behaviour, wellbeing, and respectful relationships.
• Maintaining clear, professional communication with children, parents, staff, and the Boarding House team.
• Carrying out administrative tasks, record-keeping and reporting as required
The role requires
• Passionate about working with girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
• Prepared to live in a flat attached to the boarding establishment (no pets allowed).
• Able to supervise learners.
• Be fit, healthy, energetic & a non-smoker.
• Patient, caring, understanding & empathetic.
• An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
• A team player with good administrative and organisational skills.
• Energetic, creative and solutions focused.
• Able to resolve/manage conflict.
• Flexible to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• First aid training (advantageous).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Have a proven record of commitment, and professionalism.
• Contribute positively to the Christian ethos and values of the school.
