eThekwini Municipality is seeking a qualified and experienced Driving Instructor to join its Fleet Management division. The successful candidate will be responsible for training new and existing drivers on the safe and correct operation of Cleansing Solid Waste (CSW) vehicles, trailers, and compaction units.
This position is ideal for a skilled heavy-duty vehicle instructor with strong communication abilities, excellent knowledge of road safety legislation, and experience conducting driver assessments and training programmes. The role also involves administrative reporting, driver compliance monitoring, and ensuring all drivers maintain valid licenses and Professional Driving Permits (PrDPs).

Training newly appointed drivers on heavy-duty municipal vehicles
Conducting refresher training for current CSW vehicle operators
Providing instruction on trailers, compaction units, and fleet safety procedures
Monitoring driver performance and identifying training needs
Preparing driver assessment reports and maintaining accurate records
Ensuring drivers hold valid licenses and PrDP certifications
